First Friday is the standing art night: the first Friday of every month, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., when downtown galleries open their doors together. It runs in January the same as it runs in July.
The walk is the historic core, Main and the streets just off it, including the block around the Durango Arts Center at 802 East 2nd Avenue. Three hours is enough to see several rooms without turning it into a march. Winter nights start dark; summer nights are still bright at 7.
