Original Townsite
In-Town
The original townsite is the railroad plat: the blocks around Main Avenue. Brick storefronts face the avenue, houses sit on the numbered streets a block or two off it, and the depot anchors the south end of the commercial row. This is the grid people mean when they say downtown.
Older plats on the same streets
A few assessor names are just pieces of this grid, not neighborhoods of their own. Mountain View is the east side, on blocks such as East 6th and East 7th, where the lots climb toward the mesa. Parkside Terrace is attached homes on East 6th. Brookside is the west-side blocks along West 2nd, between the grid and the river trail. The Clovis Addition is a few blocks farther west, on Columbine Drive.
